Nilaveli Beach

Nilaveli Beach, located approximately 15km from Trincomalee in the north-east of the province, is arguably one of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast. With its crystal-clear water, untouched vibe, and calm seas, the long stretch is home to a handful of small guest houses, hotels, hostels, homestays and apartments for rent. Although there aren’t as many cafes and restaurants as there are in other built-up beach locations on the island, the authentic and local vibe is the real alluring element.

Nilaveli is also home to Pigeon Island, a marine National Park 1km offshore, renown for some of the best snorkeling in the region. Turtles, reef sharks, coral beds and colourful fish inhabit the island, accessible by boat from a number of providers.

For diving, from beginners to advanced, as well as whale watching, the are a number of providers located on the beach in Nilaveli. For rates and open hours it is advised to contact the businesses directly.
