Renowned for some of the best surf spots in Sri Lanka, Arugam Bay offers a lively yet relaxed atmosphere ideal for solo travelers and families. Many local guest houses and hotels offer yoga classes and tours to local temples. 


The prime time surf season is from June to September, but the area really kicks off around March until October. Weather wise the whole of the East Coast boasts an average temperature of 29-30 degrees Celcius year round, and a water temperature of 28-29 degrees Celcius. The wet season is primarily only November and December. From beach parties to yoga classes, pop-up markets to touring local temples, the area has a unique charm, attracting a laid-back atmosphere wherever you turn.
